A summary report on the development and application of Mental Wellbeing Impact Assessment has been produced by the National Mental Health Development Unit. One of its authors, Jude Stansfield, says the NW has made a huge contribution in developing this approach to improving mental wellbeing. It has provided capacity building for 18 locality teams in the NW resulting in some excellent examples of MWIA. These have actively engaged stakeholders and communities and resulted in improvements to local projects and strategies. Some NW case studies are included in the report. The work has attracted international, european and national interest and is now being funded by the National Mental Health Development Unit. Further dissemination and capacity building will be rolled out in conjunction with the NW HIA capacity building programme.
